May was a challenging weather month in Italy but we thoroughly enjoyed our month long visit there, this year. We tried a few new things this time, like a day out in the Lake Bracciano area with a horse and buggy ride ala our friend Jackie. Horse and carriage is actually considered a sport in England with competitions and awards.
There were some days of storm and rain but as you can see from this photo the after effects were well worth a day without sun. It’s easy to understand why artists want to paint the sky in Italy!
A new restaurant in Civita Castellana at the Relais Falisco hotel (http://relaisfalisco.it) ; Le Scuderie, fulfilled its promise of exquisite food and service.
Here’s something you may not expect to see when you accompany us on one of our slow travel tours: A visit to a porcelain factory! Yes, you can order your bathroom equipment in many different styles and colors. Who knew?!
In Civita Castellan, where we spent nearly two weeks this trip, we enjoy eating at Pane e Pomedoro where Flaminio is always happy to see us and recommend the best dishes of the day. We are greeted like family and fed like royalty.
You can see why traveling to the Italian countryside never gets old. There is wine and food a-plenty as well as diverse sights and activities. Join us for one of our Fall tours so you can enjoy this beautiful country with us.
